I’m working on a project that involves speeding up a WordPress site. When I build a custom template I build the WordPress website for speed from the get go. Go ahead test this very blog. Right now here is my score with zero speed optimizations. Literally I built the custom template and put it on cheap hosting.
In the Youtube video below Louis Reingold uses this tool to measure website speed. I highly recommend that you give it a try if you inherited another project or if you’re using a WordPress template.
Once you’ve covered the basics, Google Lighthouse is the next tool you should checkout.
