WWDC 2019 Is Almost Here!

I’m a huge Apple fan. You can call me an Apple Sheep if you want. Every year Apple holds WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference) where they show us what we’ll expect from the next version of their OS’s (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Watch, ETC). WWDC is one of my favorite times of year. In 2018 Apple played it safe and did what I call a bug fix release with IOS 12. They had to because IOS 11 was trash. It was full of bugs and performance issues.

IOS 13

What do I expect with IOS 13. Dark mode. If I get Dark mode I will be happy. Everything else will be icing on the cake. I expect the biggest change will come to the iPad. I think Apple is really going to make a push to give the iPad more computer like powers like mouse support and external drive support.

There have been rumors that Apple is going to combine Find my friends and Find my iPhone into one application. I really hope that Apple doesn’t mess this up. Find my Friends is the most used application on my iPhone. It lets me know when my kids get off school and where they are at all times. It also lets me know when my wife gets off work so that I can start dinner (I work from home) so that dinner will be done when she get’s home. It’s one of those technologies that’s a huge factor in why I stick with Apple products.

MacOS 10.15 or whatever they’re going to call it

I love my Mac. I’m writing this article on it right now. But if Apple doesn’t start stepping up their game Windows is going to eat their lunch. Windows 10 is chipping away at reasons why you would choose a Mac over windows for developers like me. 10.14 introduced dark mode. They need dark mode on white web pages. This to me seems like an Apple thing where they put polish and move ahead of Windows in one aspect. Another thing is I think Apple needs two dark mode options. Black and not so black. The current iteration of dark mode is not black. It’s like a  washed out grey color. I want black.

I use Safari’s reading list all the time. One thing I wish they would add is tags.

MacOS Needs To Copy Some Windows 10 Features

I use Better Snap Tool that gives me Windows 10 windowing powers. But I think MacOS needs to bake it in. Another feature Windows wins in is keyboard shortcuts. I think Apple needs to rethink those and just copy windows. Last but not least Windows 10 redid their console app and named it terminal. Apple needs to do the same.

MacOS Finder

The Mac finder is pretty good but the one feature I would like is where I can view two folders in the same window. Linux has had this for years.

While my wishlist this year is pretty low my hype level for this years WWDC is pretty high. I can’t wait to see what Apple has in store.
